A group of old Port Harcourt boys who were mainly ex students of Stella Maris Collage, gathered in Port Harcourt on Wednesday 30th September, to felicitate with one of their own, Hon. Chibudom Nwuche who was marking his birthday.
The event which held in a high brow lounge in Port Harcourt was an avenue for the hardworking “boys’, to unwind and reminisce about old times and catch up on business and contemporary issues.
With soft tunes and ‘old skool jamz’ playing in the background, the atmosphere was convivial and filled with banter, fun and laughter.
While cutting the birthday cake, Hon. Nwuche said, ” let me thank the old Port Harcourt family, my brothers whom I grew up with. I am happy to be here and honoured today and I wish us God’s blessing and prosperity. I am praying that the love we had growing up will come back to dwell within us. I pray that we will be our brothers keeper. We need to forget political differences. A thousand planes can fly at the same time without accident. Let us uplift our brothers. Let us not occupy space alone for our selves. Don’t climb alone, don’t push others down. Create space for your brothers. Once again I feel honoured to spend my birthday with my old Port Harcourt brothers.”.
Responding on behalf of the group, the chairman of the group said, “I want to welcome Chibudom to the age of the wise. We want to wish you a happy birthday and tell you that the future is very bright and a lot much better than what you have seen in the past. I want you to know that when we work together, we may have our differences, but when the chips are down, we always watch out for each other. I want to thank you for what you have done today. To be honest with you, you are back to being a Port Harcourt boy and we want you to remain a Port Harcourt boy, no matter where you are. We all go to Abuja, Lagos, New York and live there, but no matter where we go, we always come back because North, South, East or West, home is the best. And we have always bonded together based on the history we have together. We attended the same secondary schools, University, lived on the same streets and spent our adolescent years together. We wish you many many happy returns and God’s blessing”.
