Minister of State for education Barrister Nyesom Wike has tendered an apology to former deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, for denying him the opportunity to represent Rivers West Senatorial District in the Senate. Wike, who spoke at an event in Ahoada over the weekend, said Nwuche would have been very vocal and contribute intellectually at the hallowed chamber of the Senate if he was not denied the PDP ticket in 2011. Wike was the director general of Governor Amaechi 2011 campaign organisation and an active player in the administration. “The denial of Senatorial slot to Nwuche was the greatest mistake we made. We are going to correct that mistake,” he said. “Wilson Ake wants his brother G.U. Ake to remain as PDP chairman in the state so that he will return to the Senate. We will not allow such person to represent us again. The new PDP in Rivers State is highly competitive now. We are going to choose our representatives on merit.”
